Join Angelo and Club 4×4 for a spring day trip heading out to Cobaw State Forest, near Lancefield. It’s only an hour or so from home. This trip is not for the faint of heart. There are very technical sections, deep ruts and plenty of rock climbing to be had. It will require not only a great deal of concentration, but also a well set up vehicle and knowledge on how to handle these types of tracks. I ran this trip two weeks ago (23rd of September) and we only managed to drive on Alcorns, Mansfield, Muirs, and Pinnacle tracks. We pretty much had to turn back on all the tracks but it was a lot of fun. Escape the Grand Final Weekend in Melbourne with a trip through the Wyperfeld NP and Big Desert with the following itinerary. This is bush camping and so there will be no toilets. Thursday night we will camp at Yaapeet Beach on the shores of Lake Albacutya. If you are coming up Friday morning you need to be there and aired up by 8:45am ready to start the trip. Day 1 (Friday): We will follow the track around Lake Albacutya and off to Blue Gums (via Milmed Rock Tk). We might have a play on one or two of the big dunes on the way through. Day 2 (Saturday): Explore the tracks north of Big Billy Bore campground before returning to Blue Gums campground for a second night. I was thinking of doing a communal dinner for the night. Day 3 - Sunday If we didn't get time on Saturday we will head for the small dune near Big Billy and have a crack at climbing it, before heading South to cross Chinaman Well Track, from there depending on time we can either head for Lake Albacutya and Hopetoun to finish the trip or head straight out to Jeparit on the way to Dimboola.
